Setting Up Your Vilo system 

Setting up your Vilo is easy, each Vilo comes with a quick start guide (shown below) or you can watch our setup video here.

How to Set Up Vilo (Wi-Fi 5)

First, make sure you have downloaded the Vilo App and created an account. Once logged into the app, click “Add Vilo” on the home screen, and follow the instructions on each screen to set up your main Vilo. Ensure the light on your Vilo is solid amber, this means it is ready for setup.

When you get to the “Connect To Wi-Fi” page, tap the  "Scan QR Code" button to scan the QR code on the bottom of your Vilo to connect to the Wi-Fi. If you are using an Android device, or are unable to connect using the QR code scanner, select the "Manually Connect to Wi-Fi" button. This will take you to the Wi-Fi settings page on your phone. Here you can select the Wi-Fi network with the name matching the Wi-Fi name on the bottom of your Vilo and connect using the default password (also found at the bottom of your Vilo). Once connected and back in the Vilo app you should see the “Add Vilo” page in the app, tap the “Add Vilo to My Account” to link the Vilo with your Vilo account. If you are an ISP setting up Vilo for a customer, please use this guide. 

  • If the Vilo app detects your home network as DHCP, then on the “Add Vilo” page when it shows “Success”, you can hit the button “Change Wi-Fi name and password” and here you will be able to change the Wi-Fi name and password to a personalized name and password. 
  • If the Vilo app detects your home network as PPPOE and your ISP requires you to provide a login credential (some ISPs have a PPPOE network but do not require you to type in login credentials), you will be prompted to type in a username and password for the PPPOE network, then hit the next button. After this step you can hit the button “Change Wi-Fi name and password” and here you will be able to change the Wi-Fi name and password to your desired name and password, then hit “OK”.

How to Set Up Vilo 6 (Wi-Fi 6)

Important reminders

  • Vilo 6 is only available to our ISP customers at this time. 
  • While the setup process is the same, it's important to remember that a Vilo 6 cannot be added to a  Vilo 5 network (and vice versa).
  • The indicator light will be white instead of blue when the network is installed.
  • You can identify a Vilo 6 router by the Vilo 6 branding on the front.
  • After installing the network, we recommend changing the SSID to a name that includes "Vilo 6" as an identifier in some way. This will help to eliminate confusion if a mix of Vilo 5 and Vilo 6 networks are set up in the app, allowing you to identify Vilo 6 networks easier.

How to Setup Vilo 6 (First time using Vilo and the app)

  1. Sign in to the Vilo App
  2. Tap "Add Vilo" in the middle of the home screen to begin the setup process.
  3. You will see the Get Started page. You will be instructed to connect the Vilo to WAN, power, and wait for the indicator light to turn solid amber. You can skip this page if you've already completed these steps.
  4. Connect to the WiFi network
  5. Once you've successfully connected to the network, return to the Vilo App and tap "Add Vilo To My Account" to complete the setup process. The indicator light will turn white.

How to setup Vilo 6 (Previously set up networks in the Vilo App)

  1. Sign in to the Vilo App
  2. Tap the "+" sign in the top right corner of the home screen to begin the setup process.
  3. On the "Add Vilo" screen, select "Create a New Wi-Fi Network" to set up a Wi-Fi 6 network.
  4. You will see the Get Started page. You will be instructed to connect the Vilo to WAN, power, and wait for the indicator light to turn solid amber. You can skip this page if you've already completed these steps.
  5. Connect to the WiFi network
  6. Once you've successfully connected to the network, return to the Vilo App and tap "Add Vilo To My Account" to complete the setup process. The indicator light will turn white.
