This article will go over things to be aware of when setting up Vilo 6 for the first time. The setup process for Vilo 6 is the same as Vilo 5, however, there are key things to be aware of to ensure success.
How to Set Up Vilo 6 (Wi-Fi 6)
Important reminders
- While the setup process is the same, it's important to remember that a Vilo 6 cannot be added to a Vilo 5 network (and vice versa).
-
The indicator light will be white instead of blue when the network is installed.
- You can identify a Vilo 6 router by the Vilo 6 branding on the front.
- After installing the network, we recommend changing the SSID to a name that includes "Vilo 6" as an identifier in some way. This will help to eliminate confusion if a mix of Vilo 5 and Vilo 6 networks are set up in the app, allowing you to identify Vilo 6 networks easier.
- Update the firmware to the latest version for an optimal experience.
How to Setup Vilo 6 (First time using Vilo and the app)
- Sign in to the Vilo App
- Tap "Add Vilo" in the middle of the home screen to begin the setup process.
- You will see the Get Started page. You will be instructed to connect the Vilo to WAN, power, and wait for the indicator light to turn solid amber. You can skip this page if you've already completed these steps.
- Connect to the WiFi network
-
Once you've successfully connected to the network, return to the Vilo App and tap the "Activate Wi-Fi Network” button. You will see a progress bar followed by the "Activation Successful" page.
- Next, you will see the “Detection Successful” page where you can manually select a configuration or continue with the detected configuration. You can learn more here.
- Next, you will be taken to the "Subscriber Settings" page where you can create a Subscriber ID for the network. This is required for every new network that you would like to associate with a subscriber (you can skip this page if you do not need to assign an identifier to a subscriber). If you include an e-mail, you will be taken to the "Assign the Network" page where you can choose to toggle the button off if you do not wish to give permission to your customer to download the app so they can manage the network. If you do, you can leave the button toggled on. Select "Next" to go to the next step
-
Once you create the Subscriber ID and go to the next step, you will be presented with the “Edit Wi-Fi Settings” page where you can edit the Wi-Fi name and password. Click “ok” and you will see the "Setup Completed!” confirmation.
